Ascii.Disko, the electronic project of mastermind Daniel Gerhard, are back with a new album. “Black Orchid: From Airline To Lifelines” is the new creation, but holds nothing from what the band have released before this. Earlier we’ve got lots of Electroclash and Techno, something the band delivered as late as last year with the album “Stay Gold Forever Gold”.

Instead, “Black Orchid: From Airline To Lifelines” deliver a much more radio friendly (mainstream?) electropop sound with distinct drum beats, electric guitars in the more emotional atmospheric stage. The structure feels more complex with beautiful soundscapes and the ambient elements make it sound very intriguish.

Like I said, this is nothing of what the band have delivered in previous albums, but I think Daniel have done a great job and constant discover new grounds and widen his musical portfolio. The album features both the complexity of twisted electronics in an experimental way and catchy pop tracks like “Whitelines/Blacklines”.
