Founded in 2007, Swedish trio Autodafeh released their debut album “Hunt For Glory” in 2008 and last year they struck the world with the EP, aptly entitled “Re:lectro”.
With great influences from old EBM heroes Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb that’s hard to come by throughout their music and the track “Divided We Fall” seems to be a tribute to Front 242. “Identity Unknown” include collaboration with Daniel B. of Front 242 or even Claus Larsen of Leaether Strip so old-school EBM is not only the type of music on the album.
Fast-paced club friendly tracks with minimalistic rhythms mixed with slower darker pieces is the formula here. “Evil Doll” is a powerful track featuring Claus Larsen, and it’s hard to come by that he have worked on this track. The track is dark, including Claus’ screaming vocals to a flickering ambient sound and the driving beats. “Meltdown” offers high energy and speed from start through the entire song with minimalistic changes is rhythms that will for sure make a lot of people move like crazy.
Though, I have hard to really listen on the music on cd, I prefer to experience their music live. Yet the album offers a great modern touch to the old-school style and includes several great tracks like “7 Sins” and “Evil Doll” among others.
