Four years after the debut album “Later Tonight”, the Italian duo Babylonia returns with their second studio album “Motel La Solitude” and like its predecessor it includes a whole bunch of songs. 14 tracks covering over 60 minutes in playtime.
2006 saw the release of the debut “Later Tonight” album and back in those days the band was signed to Infacted Recordings. Since then it’s been rather quiet from the band and in January 2010 their new creation “Motel La Solitude” hit the stores on their new home Halidon. I think the band has evolved alot in these four years with a much more developed sound that feels very mature compared to the previous one. The vocals by Max is outstanding combined to fresh electropop tunes with catchy melodies and cool synthetic arrangements. But what I’m most impressed with is the production that I think is just top class. Also notable is that the band has added guitars to their music since last time. The level is just perfect and it’s added nicely to the background music where synthesizers still is the main instrument.
“Motel La Solitude” mix ballads with catchy electropop songs and the output is a very harmonic and melancholic creation with great vocals that will for sure suit people that loves good and poppy songs. Though, from my personal point of view I feel there is two-three tracks too many which I think could be skipped. But be sure not to miss songs like “Myself Into Myself”, the first single “By My Side” or even “Love Not For Me”.
