Beati Mortui was formed in 2005 in Helsinki, Finland and consist of the three members Maria, Sami and Jarno. The band was signed by German label Danse Macabre early 2008 after recieving great response and good success in the Battle Of The Bands competition in 2007, hosted by german Sonic Seducer, earning a second place.

The debut album “All But Dreams Will Die” was released in May 2008 and now they return for 2010 with their second studio album “Let The Funeral Begin” in a limited edition of 666 copies featuring a bonus disc with remixes from wellknown acts such as Suicide Commando, C-Lekktor or Eisenfunk among others.

“Let The Funeral Begin” offer a great amount of energy, a fast-paced attack in the vein of Suicide Commando or even early Psyclon Nine, with heavily distorted vocals in the harsh EBM/Dark Electro genre. The band also flirt with the Gothic genre but also a hint of Metal with its added guitar riffs on some of the songs. That is also very notable in the beautiful ballad “Deathrow” featuring Bruno Kramm from Das Ich and label manager.

However, it doesn’t give you anything new that you haven’t heard before but with an impressive sound structure and great production with some really great tracks in “Visions Of Hell”, earlier mentioned “Deathrow” or “Soulreaper” to name a few together with it’s clubiness and striking beats, “Let The Funeral Begin” is a good album that you definately should check out. The band also proves that Finland can create great music that’s not in the Metal genre.
