The Italian band Blue Velvet is a TBM/Industrial project that was born in 1999, with the meeting of two of the members Dogh and Andy. The debut album “The Third” was released in 2006 after the two members Malcom 11 and DarkendDawn joined the band. “Rotation” is their new album released on the Italian label Breakdown Records and includes 9 tracks with re-worked versions from previous album featuring pure electronics together with Drum & Bass and Techno Body Music in the veins of The Prodigy.
The experimental piece shows off right away with the opener “Without Soul” and is like a red thread through all tracks except the last, but I will come to that later. The album includes alot of drums and beats with crazy electronic landscapes and would for sure fit all lovers of experimental electronic music out there.
For last… I wonder if you could grab a more emotional and sad atmosphere than what is experienced with the track “My Sad Happiness”. Only a set of piano with background landscapes with a feeling of dark ambient. The first set of the song is pretty beautiful but then it turns over to a very sad feeling with a woman and children crying in the background. Before it ends it turns over to a soft breeze with sounds from water waiving at shore.
With “Rotation” Blue Velvet shows off a very good production with dark vocals and heavy club-orientated music. A mix of The Prodigy and Front 242. Recommended tracks is “I Wanna Be Like God” and “Destination” and will for sure make you wanna move.
