Christopher Anton “Destination: X” (Album/A Different Drum)

Review:

Christopher Anton - Destination X

7/10

Artist: Christopher Anton
Title: Destination: X
Format: Album
Label: A Different Drum
Genre: Electropop, Synthpop
Release date: September, 2010

The first thing that got in my mind when hearing the first track is Depeche Mode. The voice almost sound exactly like Dave Gahan. This is the new solo project of Information Society vocalist Christopher Anton and Destination: X is the debut album. And maybe you’ve heard the track “A Shattered Mind” on the latest Electropop.5 compilation.

Like I mentioned, the likeness with Depeche Mode is hard not to hear, but I think the album has much more then that. It offer you with some really sweet electropop with amazing atmosphere at a very melancholic stage. It’s catchy with really cool soundscapes that also reveal influences from Mesh and even Iris. Christopher has a really great voice, something he proved already back in 2006 when he joined Information Society as their vocalist.

You’ll also find some 80′s synthpop influences with a modern touch. However, the first half of the album is the strong part – aswell the more catchier and heavier one – with “I Want To Be Broken”, “A Shattered Mind” and “All You Wanted”.
