Four years ago, in 2006, Code 64 released their latest album and after that it’s been pretty quiet from the band. The most common cause of this was that singer Henrik Piehl left the band and the remaining members Hasse and Christian had to look for another singer. Finally they found one in Bjørn Marius Borg. 2010 sees the return of Code 64 and signed to a new label in Progress Productions the band is here with the digital-only single “Stasis” that is the first of two singles to be released, taken from the new studio album “Trialogue” which will be out in late summer/early autumn.

Soundwise, Code 64 has changed a bit and if it depends on the new singer will be unsaid. Compared to the old material the band shows off a more trance and techno influenced sound, but the melodic structure and catchy refrains are still there and the title track are no exception. It’s very catchy and danceable with great vocals, and even if it will take some time to get used to the new voice of Code 64 – atleast from my point of view – I really like this track. Bjørn proves that he has a good voice which matches the sound perfectly. The b-side, however, is alot heavier then the single track and offers a deeper bassline and even though that infective chorus is missing this is a pure club-smasher.

The single also includes three remixes of “Stasis”, though I think they shows too much similarities to each other except the bands own version that proves to be the better one of the three with some old classic C64 sounds. Nothing competes with the original though, together with the b-side, of which is growing the more you listen to them.

The new album will be very interesting and I’m really looking forward to it.
