So finally, the wait is over! The long announced third studio album from Code 64 is here. “Trialogue” features 14 tracks over 65 minutes. Earlier this year the band released the single “Stasis” as an appetizer for the new album and if you’ve heard that you probably also know that the band have a new singer in Norwegian born Bjørn Marius Borg, and one change almost never comes alone, as the band also have a new home on Progress Productions.
First out is “Prologue” and the name pretty speak for itself for what this is. The intro clearly states the sound of what the new album is all about and starts the journey of what to come in the following 63 minutes. Make sure you’ve fasten your seat belt as the following tracks “Deviant”, “Progenitor”, “Stasis” and “Higher Grounds” gonna take you on an amazing ride. Powerful soundscapes, heavy danceable beats and catchy melodies together with a strong vocal performance surely make you wanna move.
With “Oblivion”, as well as with “Reefersleep”, sees a much more mellow atmosphere and the beautiful soundscapes to the great voice of Bjørn. The melancholic state that these two tracks offer is unvoidable and the tone is very emotional, as the following track “Technocraft v64″ is the right opposite. Energetic techno influenced soundscapes, strong beats this instrumental piece is without a doubt the heaviest track on the album. “Masquerade” is a very poppy track and offers some great electropop tunes, although, the last minute of this song really destroys it completely and together with the quite boring “Advanced Robotics” it keeps it from getting the top rating.
“Trialogue” offers a great variation of tracks, both in tempo and in styles. The space theme and the love for old video game sounds is still there and quite notable as they do it very good. With a really great production and an slightly updated sound the band just took the step into the next level as more or less every track is really great. “Trialogue” is an album that grows with time and with every listen you find new likings and for sure an album that need to be experienced.
