Dead Turns Alive, another new band to me, returns in 2010 with the new album “Maelstrom”, after 8 years in absence since there latest effort “Salvation And Despair”. “Maelstrom” is the third studio album from this one-man project of Micha, based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The album opens with a really powerful track in S.I.N. – including both english and german lyrics, it’s a swarm of menacing beats and heavy rhythms. The second track “The Serpent’s Chant” the beat count is dropped a little, but here Micha is delivering a very powerful and emotional track with a great melodic touch. The heavier beats are still there but with a striking chorus and beautiful voice, this is an amazing track. Followed with additional female vocals on “Fading Away” and the heavy club track “Love Is Lost”

But what I’m most amazed about is that this is present throughout the entire album and really covers a wide range in the electronic scene. Powerful melodies fused with heavy beats and industrial elements. Sometimes it’s a screaming voice and the other its a more charming approach. The music is fresh, offers a great production and many tracks has a great club appeal. Modern EBM mixed with futurepop and industrial.
