With two studio albums in their back, the two members Daniel Myer and Sebastian Ullmann of Destroid returns in 2010 with the new EP “Silent World”. “Silent World” is the first new material since 2007 and features a total of nine tracks including remixes from Assemblage 23, SITD, People Theatre and guest vocals from Sven Friedrich of Zeraphine/Solar Fake.

The first track “I walk Slow” starts out very beautiful with a calm atmosphere together with the voice of Daniel Myer. It’s a slow track and the beats is first presented after about two minutes followed by a more rhythmic approach the minute after. Next up is the title track “Silent World” and it’s the right opposite to the first track, with its clubby approach and infectious melodies and beautiful background soundscapes. The following “Leaving Ground” nearly followes on the same path but is presented in a more melodic way and turns out to a very catchy song with great piano arrangements and great singing from Daniel. “Lucretia My Reflection” has a much more darker approach then the previous tracks and that in someway reminds me of the music from XPQ-21. with vocals from Sven Friedrich of Zeraphine/Solar Fake together with the darker beats, but yet feels very melodic, it’s a great track.

The EP is then followed by a couple of remixes. First out is the Assemblage 23 remix of “Leaving Ground” followed by the remixes from SITD of “Silent World” and People Theatre of “Bird Of Prey”, where the later, at least what I think, is the one I enjoyed the most with its 80′s sound but yet with a modern touch. SITD have implemented their unique sound into their remix to create a heavy piece destined for the dancefloor, while Tom Shear delivers a more poppy and experimental remix with a great rhythmic feeling.

Last track on the EP is a live version of the song “Let Me Leave”, recorded at the Elysium in Austin, Texas and it shows how much of a great live act Destroid is.

I enjoyed listening to this very much and it offers a great atmosphere through the entire EP with alot of variety in every track.
