Die Braut was born in 2006 by Cristian Soto Vanelli but was quickly formed into a pair, with the incorporation of a feminine figure, Katia Figueroa, who stands for all vocals and lyrics. In 2007, the band was signed to the german sub-label Biohazard Records of Danse Macabre and released its debut album “Unsehbar” the next year in July of 2008. For their second album “World Of Lies” the band has signed with Chilean label Orion Records.

This is the first band I came across in this genre featuring vocals from a female singer. With a dark sound and great rhythmic feeling the opener “No Rules” is a great start of the album. It starts with a rather harmonic atmosphere before the darker beats are introduced together with the highly distorted voice from Katia. The following “World Of Lies” goes in the same vein but with a slightly reduced beat count and a more melodic path. With “Warsong” the tempo is once again turned up to reveal a true stomper and nice track if you wanna move your feet, before with get to “Freiheit, Gerechtigkeit, Freundschaft!” – a rather surprising title since the band is from Chile. The sound structure kinda reminds me of Amduscia and their album “From Abuse To Apostasy” released some years ago.

With “Loosing The Sense Of Life” all heavy beats are dropped and instead we’ll get a slow atmospheric piece with dark ambient soundscapes and electronic elements. The following tracks reveals fast-paced action straight through to the end with great tracks like “Crucificado” or “W.I.E”.

With a massive assault over 12 tracks and almost 70 minutes, Die Braut delivers a breathtaking production with dark electronic and a brutal force of heavy beats. Even though the band draws much attention and similarities to Hocico and Amduscia or even our own European acts like Suicide Commando and , I think the music is very fresh and amazing. This is for sure one of the heaviest and most enjoyable arrivals from the dark electro scene this year. Fans of dark EBM in the same vein as the bands mentioned will sure make this album pleasant.
