Emmon is the creation of Swedish solo artist Emma Nylén. “Nomme” is the third studio album since the debut in 2007 and reveal somekind of a new sound.

Well, maybe not a completely new sound in that way. Compared to previous releases it doesn’t feel as flat and here we got a much darker and up-to-date structure, but overall more worked-through and mature sound. Something I noticed right away was the punchy beat, which was very distant before where there were more focus on this retro and minimalistic feeling. However, the minimalistic structure have got a whole new level and the result sounds really good.

The reference to bands like Client or Ladytron is still there but this new style is something I really think suits the sound of this project very well. The album includes lots of catchy rhythms, beautiful melodies and great voice. If you’ve heard the recent single “Distance”, that was released earlier this Spring, I think you get a good feeling of what to expect here. There is also lots of instrumental parts on this album. The atmosphere is really amazing though.

“Nomme” may need some time to grow, but it is definately her best work to date. A very good Electropop journey is guaranteed.
