God Module has been around for about ten years now and they’ve surely made a name out of themselfs. 2010 sees the return with the long-awaited new EP “The Magic In My Heart Is Dead”. With 4 new tracks along with several remixes and a cover version the EP covers almost 50 minutes.

The EP starts out with the title track and is something of an intro and the setting is very densed and with a gloomy atmosphere. With the following track “A Minute To Midnight” the great things really starts to happen. The listener are offered with a heavy beat structure together with the dark and very characteristic sounds we are used to from God Module. Next track “Art” comes with an increased beat count which makes it great to move to. A great melody is present and the electronics is amazing together with the heavy distorted vocals. Moving on with “Skeptical” which is another strong melodic track. The thing I really love with God Module is that they mix together the harshness with beautiful soundscapes and atmospheres and offers fantastic melodies. As mentioned earlier, the EP includes a cover and it’s a version of the classic Gary Numan track “Me! I Disconnect From You”. It’s a very good version and the sounds from this New Wave/synthpop legend Gary Numan sounds very well together with the sound of God Module.

The remixes features work from rising start Shiv-R, Ashbury Heights, Project Pitchfork, System Syn and Aesthetic Perfection. In between the remixes God Module have put in a Dance Mix of their popular track “Spooky”. The first think I noticed when listening through the remixes is that the Ashbury Heights remix sounds very different from the original version. Anders have really succeeded with this remix and really has that Ashbury Heights-feel to it. All remixes are great though but Ashbury Heights together with the remix from System Syn falls into my personal favorites.
