Huminoida - Whiter Album Artist: Huminoida

Release date: February 5, 2011

The name Huminoida may not say much to you but as soon as you start hearing the vocals I’m sure you recognize from where the man behind this project comes from. Huminoida is the creation of Kimmo Karjalainen, formerly known as the voice of the well known synthpop duo Neuroactive.

A first look at the album may not say very much as the package is completely white. But then, unfold it and it opens up just like a beautiful flower with a big artwork of lots of wires connected in form of a flower. A futuristic flower. And that is something I feel this album is like. A futuristic journey into many different soundscapes but also covering elements from the last three decades.

The sound of Huminoida can be compared with Neuroactive with its very addictive synths and soundscapes, but here Kimmo is behind the music and is at a way more experimental stage. The complexity is hard to miss and even the emotional lyrics Mr KK offer is amazing. I must say I really love his voice. It’s brilliant and touching. The Neuroactive album “Transients” from 2001, the last album with Kimmo as vocalist, I still see as one of the best synthpop records released.

Mystique. That is one word I can feel about this album. The sound is very mystic and intriguish with lots of amazing atmospheres and minimalistic synthesizers. It’s one of the strongest synthpop albums I’ve heard in years.
