Over two years after their previous release, Illinois-based quartet I:Scintilla returns with the “Prey On You” EP. This upcoming EP features the three new tracks “Prey On You”, “Ammunition” and “Hollowed” together with five remixes from artists and bands like Sebastian Komor, Studio-X, C/A/T and more, covering about 41 minutes.

The title track is a very catchy synthpop tune featuring the frontwoman Brittany Bindrim’s strong voice. The synthesizers are very powerful with a lot of interesting sounds and will of course fit on the dancefloor with its very melodic refrain. The second track “Ammunition” is quite different from the title track with a more industrial-metal touch and exploding guitar riffs and fast beats. “Hollowed” is another rocky track but with more electronics and a very catchy melody.

To cover the remixes, first out is the mix by well-known producer and artist Sebastian Komor (Bruderschaft, Zombie Girl, Komor Kommando, Icon Of Coil etc.), who has put his magical touch on the title track “Prey On You”. The electronics on this reminds me of the Icon Of Coil track “Shelter”, and besides the vocals you could easily think this could be a song from Icon Of Coil. Once again we have another remix from Studio-X which we have heard alot from lately with his remix works on Implant and Helalyn Flowers. And once again he delivers a hard dance mix with awesome electronics and his infectious trance beats. Brittany’s voice sounds very cool and fits perfectly on this mix. The Cylab Mix is a bit darker than the other mixes and has a more modern EBM touch with its distinct-pounding beats. The last two mixes on “Ammunition” and “Hollowed” is very different from respective original and has a more electronic feel and not the industrial-metal-rock sound.

All three remixes on the song “Prey On You” is really great and offers three completely different sounds from the modern electronic scene. The new album “Dying & Falling” arrives in 2010 and this EP will definately ease you a bit but with a felling of wanting more.
