Kontaminant “Monument” (Not On Label)

Kontaminant - Monument Artist: Kontaminant
Title: Monument
Format: Demo
Label: Not On Label / Unsigned
Genre: Electro, Futurepop
Release date: September 2011

Kontaminant is the creation of UK-based Davi Lovatt with help from Nick Quarm, known from the online magazine Brutal Resonance. This is the first demo from the band.

I must say the band really have a thing for melodies, and something they do really well. It’s catchy with great hooks and deep bass. I really like the dark tone mixed with clean vocals. Some tracks are made for the dancefloor with faster beats, but you will even find more harmonic and atmospheric pieces like “The Last Exile”.

However, the quality of the sound is a bit poor and would need a overhaul in mastering. Sometimes it feels flat and the sound even feel dull most of the time. Some of the tracks may be in use of being worked through once again putting some touches to it along with the vocals.

Even though this is the first release from the band, they sure got the potential and likings of bands like Level 2.0 or Unitary should keep an eye out.
