Menschdefekt - The Human Parasite

9/10

Artist: Menschdefekt
Title: The Human Parasite
Format: CD
Label: Infacted Recordings
Genre: Dark Electro
Release date: April 16, 2010

Menschdefekt is the creation of Nik R. in 2004 and based in Germany. Later in 2009 swedish singer Fredrik Croona joined the band as the vocalist and lyricist. Later the same year, in August, the band got signed to Infacted Recordings and the first official album “The Human Parasite” was announced to be released on April 16th, 2010. To note is also that the album has been mastered by Jan L. of X-Fusion.

The album goes off with “Plague [The Human Parasite]” and the song starts with a movie quote from Matrix before the heavy electronics are introduced. The main theme of the lyrics is about todays society to criticize things like war, murder, consumption or even nationalism and fascism. Every song is very club-orientated with dark and aggressive vocals from Fredrik and even though its harsh and heavily distorted it’s easy to understand the lyrics. The music is aggressive, dark and very brutal with heavy beats destined for the dancefloors, but yet very melodic with catchy refrains and soundscapes. The variation is wide with a mixture of different styles like Dark Electro, Futurepop or even Trance influences and the good thing is that it’s never gets bored. It’s not new-creating but it’s fresh, modern and offers great production.

Expect amazing tracks like the melodic “Psycho Bitch” – also included on the latest installment of the Alfa Matrix compilation “Endzeit Bunkertracks” – together with “Schizophrenia”, “Dekadenz” and “Black Harvest” to name a few. The later includes one of my favorite movie quotes which is from the first Saw movie.
