Mind Area - Stagnation Death

5/10

Release date: July 5, 2010

Shortly after the album release of “Long-Distance Side Trip”, the German electro band Mind.Area arrive with their new EP “Stagnation / Death”. Six tracks in different versions and remixes.

When hearing the first track “No Chance” it kinda reminds me of Rabia Sorda, for the voice that is. The music isn’t in the same category, though. It’s more into Futurepop or on the edge to Synthpop. The second track “Lowdown” featuring Reizstrom takes another path and introduces some ambient elements and is way softer the previous track. With heavy distorted vocals the following track “Deadlock” tries to give it a much darker approach, but I think it fails to the very blipping sound structure that the track has and for me I just think it sound strange. IDM and some Trance elements are also present in the tracks to give it this futuristic sound.

This is the kind of music that this EP offers and I think it’s kinda short and may dissapoint a bit but on the other hand the music offers great variety and probably will suit the fans of the genre.
