Review:

Namnambulu - Distances (The Black Edition)

10/10

Artist: Namnambulu
Title: Distances (The Black Edition)
Format: CD
Label: Infacted Recordings
Genre: Futurepop
Release date: July 30, 2010

Namnambulu need no detailed presentation. The creation of Vasi Vallis and vocalist Henrik Iversen only released one studio album before they split up. But what an album that was, and still is. The original edition has been deleted and out of print now for over a year and with a contant growing demand from fans all over the world, the label, Infacted Recordings, decided to re-release the album for 2010. New on this version is the modified artwork and the including of two additional tracks not available on the original pressing. Nowadays, Vasi have his other projects Frozen Plasma and Reaper while Henrik started his solo project Sonic Decoy in 2007.

For you who don’t have the album yet, this is a great opportunity to grab one of the greatest albums ever released within the electronic music scene during the first ten years of the new millennium. “Distances” has it all! 11 beautiful songs with amazing melodies, driving beats and emotional lyrics. It includes both up-tempo songs and slower, more like a ballad type of songs. The magical hands of Vasi blended with the very poignant voice of Henrik, what a great combination. “Now Or Never” was the first song I heard from NNB and I can tell you it was like love at the first sight. I really love that song and it is one of my personal favorites of all time.

The complete album is a true masterpiece and doesn’t deserve less. Wonderful tunes to please your mind and ears and I think many agrees with me and I must admit that I almost dropped a tear when I heard about the end of the band.

This sounds more like a tribute then a review, but I think it is such a complete piece of work that it deserves to be lifted to the sky and if you haven’t experienced the album yet I really hope you will. Recommended with all of my heart! And be sure not to miss their other releases like the “Expansion” EP or the “Alone” single that was released in 2005, just a short period of time before they announced the end.
