30 years! Yes, that is the anniversary swedish synthpop band Page is celebrating this year. 10 years ago they played their final concert at SAMA in Gothenburg and ever since it hasn’t been a word of a comeback or reuion. But late last year, in December it was clear that the band was working on a new album and that the duo of Eddie Bengtsson and Marina Schiptjenko was returning to the project they started 30 years ago was a fact. “Nu” (Now in English) is the title of the album and features ten new songs with swedish lyrics.
It’s been a long time since they released an album with all-new material and with this new record you could wonder; Will it still sound like Page? I can assure you that it does. The classic minimalistic synthpop tunes the band delivered during the 80′s and 90′s are still there and the music still sounds fresh and definately like Page should sound like. The only thing that has changed though is the lyrics. They are still very easy to understand and simple but I think they are more mature now.
The songs are very catchy with its blipping synthpop melodies and if you’re not getting on happy thoughts when listening to the songs, I don’t know what will. Notable is that the last song of the album, “Min Drog” is a cover of the song “Narcotic” by Liquido. Great interpretation.
