Review:

Psyche - Re-Membering Dwayne

6.5/10

Artist: Psyche
Title: Re-membering Dwayne
Format: CD
Label: Artoffact Records
Genre: Industrial, Synthpop
Release date: September 7, 2010

Formed in the early 80′s by the two brothers Darrin and Stephen Huss. Also during that early period the band was a trio with the third member Dwayne Rudolph Goettel, more known for his involvement in Skinny Puppy, who tragically died in 1993. “Re-membering Dwayne” is a collection of early material from Psyche as a trio and is a dedication to the memory of Dwayne.

“Re-membering Dwayne” is a varied collection of songs and take the listeners on a journey through early Skinny Puppy and Psyche, where Dwayne show off his creative Industrial sound which later also was shown in the music with Skinny Puppy. The music is very experimental and gives you an insight of how the band sounded like at their early years and compared with todays material there is a big difference, but shows a huge development in the bands history. Even though I’m not a huge fan of Psyche nor Skinny Puppy, this release offer a nice collection of experimental and cool soundscapes in resemblance of The Human League mixing together the 80′s synthpop and industrial and the including with a couple of new remixes from bands like Plastic Noise Experience, Controlled Collapse or from Dead When I Found Her gives new life in the sound with a more modern touch.
