After a long period of silence, Pulcher Femina returns in 2010 with a new album. This Italian project by Roberto Conforti is back in the spotlight after 8 years in silence with the album “Darkness Prevails”, featuring 13 new tracks of modern dark electronics.

As with his latest effort “Shadows Of The Lovers”, “Darkness Prevails” starts with a very strong opening track. “Light Deprivation” is a dark, yet emotional track which has great tunes, a catchy melody, amazing vocals by Roberto and a distinct beat structure, but also, The track ends in a very nice, but quite suprising way, with strings from an acoustic guitar. The darkness continues with the track “Deepest Sins”, an emotional piece with clear electronic tunes but also with nice implemented violins merged beautifully with the other instruments. “Bio-illogical Progress” is another amazing track with its driving beat stucture and infectious synths.

The voice of Roberto blends in perfectly together with the tunes. Take the track “Last Time” for example, it’s beautiful and yet very strong. This ballad type of song is an emotional piece of art that offer an amazing atmosphere with great soundscapes and Roberto’s voice is spellbounding.

If you are familiar with Pulcher Femina, you will still recognize the music. “Darkness Prevails” offers great electronic pop music with some dark tunes with heavier beats like “Broken Hearted” or even “Holy War”, but also elements recognizable in synthpop with “Grim Surroundings”. Even though the lyrics is very dark and yet very emotional you will hear that there is much light behind it. Compared to his earlier efforts like “Shadows Of The Lovers”, the music is much clearer, both in sound and production making this his best work to date with a fresh and modern sound covering slow songs with heavier tracks merged with amazing vocals.
