Review:

Resist - The Ride

8/10

Artist: Resist
Title: The Ride
Format: CD
Label: Remote Music
Genre: Electro-Rock
Release date: April 23, 2010

The debut album “The Ride” from UK band Resist is scheduled for an April 23rd release. The band – who consists of the five members Misha, Emma, Mark, Lexx and Phil – was signed by the German label Remote Music at the beginning of the year and released the digital single “I Am Not The Enemy” in March as an appetizer for the debut album.

The album starts out with “Tattooed” and offers great electronic soundscapes in the background to the heavy guitar riffs and driving rock tunes. It’s a catchy song with a nice rhythm just as the following “White Knuckle Ride” and “Burning Up”. “I Am Not The Enemy” is still my favorite track since the single and I think it’s an amazing song with its melody and beautiful voice from Misha. The structure is really strong and you just gotta love it. This album version is slightly altered compared to the single version and a little longer. “Skin River” or even “Crush Me” continues on the melodic path with driving sequences and is way more electronic then the other tracks.

After listening through the album a couple of times I draw similarities to another Electro-Rock band, Helalyn Flowers. They goes in the same vein with their sound structure and the songs are built up in the same way. And even the voices of the female singers of the two bands sounds almost the same sometimes.

The band really shows an attitude with their debut album with tough and straight-forward lines from singer Misha. With driving rhythms of heavy Rock and electronic elements they reveal a mature artistic approach to offer the listeners great production and catchy melodies.
