The Luxembourg-based Neofolk act Rome, which are new to me, release their new EP “L’Assassin” in 2010 of what will be the first appetizer for a new album. The EP features 4 tracks including two new songs and two stringed versions of the songs “Der Brandtaucher” and “Der Erscheinungen Flucht” taken from the 2008 album “Masse Mensch Material”.
This mini EP starts with the title track “L’Assassin” and during my first listening it completely blow my mind. With beautiful arrangements of violins, acoustic guitars and great background soundscapes of dark ambient sounds is amazing and the intrigue voice of Jerome Reuter match perfectly into the sound structure.
The second track “One Flesh”, also a new song, follows the previous track like a red thread with its lyrics and calming atmosphere. The two new Stringed versions of “Der Brandtaucher” and “Der Erscheinungen Flucht” is beautiful with a great melody and though they have german titles the lyrics is all in english.
With beautiful arrangements and blending together dark ambient, pop and classical instruments with dark vocals and emotional lyrics their music is so calm and very refreshingly to listen to making it a must have.
I am just stunned.
