Almost 2 years after the release of “Evol Love Industry”, State Of The Union is back with new material and release the single “Dancing In The Dark” as an appetizer for the forthcoming album.

The single is released and presented in a quite different way, as it features a total of 15 (!) remixes of “Dancing In The Dark”. And that’s not all, an additional bonus of 10 remixes is included on the single in mp3-format. Last time I witnessed this was with the release of “Forever” by the ‘super group’ Brüderschaft back in 2003. But unlike that release, every track on “Dancing In The Dark” is released as a DJ-set as one contiguous block, so you’ll get almost 2 hours of one track. The original version of the song is saved for the album and is not included on this release.

“Dancing In The Dark” includes remixes from a couple of well-known acts like labelmates Heimataerde and Aqualite or Pulse State and Mordacious, but I’m unfamiliar with most of the other remixers.

The song itself is very catchy, it as a great structure to it and Johann Sebastian is doing what he is good at. It’s a very melodic track with an infectious hard-to-not singalong chorus and includes everything you could ask for to be a potential club-smasher. The remixes hold great variaty in both tempo and harshness, some are more electro pop-influenced like the Pulse State-remix and some are heavier like the Stihmann or Stahlnebel-remix. And what’s so good with the later is that the remixer has implemented his own vocals with harsh distorted effects which I think gives the song a little more spice to it. My personal favorite is the De Tot Cor-remix with its harshness, loads of energy with heavy beats and crazy electronic soundscapes.

However, the lyrics isn’t that innovative though, and I don’t think that’s the point. The track is amazing and do not need it… And who cares anyway when you can dance your ass off to a great song. I like it alot. After all, “Dancing In The Dark” is very strong and will for sure make its way to the clubs.
