T.W.A.T. “Blood Sweat And Teargas” (Machineries Of Joy)

T.W.A.T. - Blood Sweat And Teargas Artist: T.W.A.T.
Title: Blood Sweat And Teargas
Format: Album
Label: Machineries Of Joy
Genre: EBM, Punk
Release date: April 2011

The sound of T.W.A.T. is speedy old school EBM with lots of classical elements within the genre. A mix with punk, strong rhythms and fast beats. The dark vocals are also in there.

With roots from early Pouppee Faprikk and DAF, the band deliver something they call “Oi!BM”, and explained as a new dimension of electronic body music and adding strong opinionated messages in their lyrics. The sound is influenced with early Nitzer Ebb and other big names from the early EBM era. However, the result is weak with only a couple of interesting parts. The track “Born And Raised” is one of them and I really like it. Something I would have liked to see more of.

However, the intesity is there and the band shows of being forward with a strong rhythmic structure and short explosive songs. Though, I feel they have included too many tracks and it more feels like they are trying to fill the album, just because the songs is so short. But you can deliver a great album even if the total playtime doesn’t even pass the 30 minute-mark. Instead there is a bunch of songs that just feel so mediocre and not entierly worked through.

The band have tried to create something of their own but instead it lacks creativity and ends up with a bad production where it has already passed expiration date or mimic other bands. Likings of old school EBM could very much see this release as enjoying but unfortunately I can’t find much of inspiration where it more feels like an avocation then a serious matter.
