The Birthday Massacre - Pins And Needles

10/10

Artist: The Birthday Massacre
Title: Pins And Needles
Format: CD
Label: Dependent Records
Genre: Electronic, Gothic Rock
Release date: September 17, 2010

Actually, this is the first album I’ve heard with the band. With the new album “Pins & Needles”, the fourth in the order, the band are now a part of German quality label Dependent Records for the European territories.

The album presents clever and catchy melodies together with great lyrics and powerful choruses. The distorted guitars give more depth while the infectious synths add a much more clearer sound structure and the combination is great. Together with the charming voice of Chibi the result is stunning. With a mature sound I think this album appeal to both fans of Synth and Gothic Rock as it mixes both genres very good with its well-forged synthetic soundscapes and dark gothic sound. It’s clearly notable that the album have a strong production as the sound is very fresh and top class so fans of Marilyn Manson, Skinny Puppy, Killing Joke among others may be familiar with the name Dave Ogilvie as he is behind the production.

Don’t miss out this amazing new album from The Birthday Massacre, a must for fans of melodic and fresh music with catchy refrains and female vocals. “In The Dark”, “Control”, “Always” and of course the title track “Pins & Needles” is just some of the gems you’ll find on this great album. An album that really grows more and more the more you listen to it. Highly Recommended.
