“On The First Of November” is the fourth studio album from New York-based Totakeke, the project of Frank Mokros. His main project is Synth-Etik on Hands Productions. “On The First Of November” is the fourth studio album from Totakeke and released on Tympanik Audio.
Looking at the CD case to see that there are no track names – and reading that with this release “Totakeke elevates his signature brand of infectious beatwork accentuated by complex rhythms, dark melodies, and massive atmospheres to create another addictive beat-driven masterpiece.” made me wonder. I was a bit sceptic since I really want a song to have a title.
Totakeke offer a swarm of infectious beats, a mixture of Breakcore and Industrial but what I find here that I haven’t found on earlier similar releases is that the music has a way more characteristic approach with striking melodies and really amazing soundscapes. It’s notable that he’s brought the more synthetic melodies from his other project. Some dark ambient elements can be noticed which really gives it a cool atmosphere and every track actually feels like a song and not just a couple of different noises and sounds put together. Every track are like fused together into one and you hardly notice the track change.
With great rhythms and powerful basslines, Totakeke delivers a really strong album. Highly recommended! It would definately be a 9 if didn’t were for the boring tracknames.
