“Change In The Neon Light” is the debut album of San Francisco-based Alternative music band Veil Veil Vanish. Alternative Pop Rock isn’t what I normally listen to, but for that matter, it doesn’t have to be bad.

At first, I was really sceptic when listening through the album, but the more I listened I found new likings and after the rather gloomy opening the second track “Anthem For A Doomed Youth” delivers an amazing structure with a very powerful chorus. A track who was released late last year as an appetizer for the album. “Modern Lust” is a track with a really cool melody and some parts of the song reminds me of another song which I can’t put my finger on. But it sounds great.

The electronic instruments can be heard more in some of the tracks, like in earlier mentioned “Modern Lust”, but the main approach here is the guitars and the drums. With a great production and a really strong voice, “Change In The Neon Light” is very good album. However, if you like strong melodies this album is probably something you want to check out. The band is compared to big names such as The Cure or even a rockier version of Placebo.
