After the re-releases of the classics “Abattoir” and “Cenotaph”, “Seventeen” is the much anticipated and delighted comeback of one of the biggest acts from the 90′s. X-Marks The Pedwalk return to the scene with the first all new material since 1996 with this new single and will be followed by the new album “Inner Zone Journey” in March.

This single features five tracks including the original version of the title track together with an extended version and remixes from Noisuf-X and Liquid Divine. Besides these we are presented with the b-side “Winter Comes Tomorrow” in a special remixed version plus the video for “Seventeen”.

“Seventeen” is a very catchy song with infectious hooklines, fast beats and great synthetic soundscapes. A great melody is presented and the song could surely fit on the dancefloor. This is followed by the extended mix of the song, which is more cluborientated with different layers and a more prominent bassline. The bonus track “Winter Comes Tomorrow” is a remixed version of the original which will be included on the upcoming album. This version offers a great atmospheric feeling with splendid landscapes of synthesizers and driving beats with great female and male vocals.

The two remixes included on the single by X-Fusion and labelmates Liquid Divine is very different from the original and both artists have turned the track to their interpretation and I must say the result is great. X-Fusion with its harsh club-feeling and the Liquid Divine-version with their known experimental touch.

Even though singles aren’t released that often nowadays, I could really recommend getting this one, it’s by far one of the best singles I’ve heard in a long time and it’s a worthy appetizer for what’s to come on “Inner Zone Journey” this spring.
