Artist: Zynic Title: My Personal Kryptonite Format: EP Label: conzoom Records Genre: Synthpop Release date: September 30, 2011 |
Earlier this year Zynic, aka H.P. Siemandel struck out of nowhere and released the highly delighted single “Dreams In Black and White” followed by the loved debut album “Fire Walk With Me” shortly after.
This is the latest single from H.P. and being one of the most beloved tracks from the album, it was almost inevitable to be released as a single. The single comes with five versions of the title track, including the original version together with remixes from Mesh and Rotersand along with the non-album track “Regrets” and exclusive version of “Almost Silence”.
The remixes feel to be carefully selected and the versions from Mesh and Rotersand is really good and both have managed to do their own version to something unique and great. The club feeling is there in both and once again Mesh deliver an outstanding remix. But even Olaf Wollschläger tends to strike with a very interesting remix in his superman-inspired Lex Luthor’s Revenge Mix.
The non-album track “Regrets” is very Depeche Mode inspired from the early days but even tends to cross elements from Elegant Machinery. Yet it fits the Zynic-style very well. However, the song is amazing and continues the theme in lyrics from the album about lost love, faults in relationships and the persuit of getting it all right. The campfire version of “Almost Silence” is a cheesy ballad-like version and as the name state it only appears with an acoustic version to H.P’s strong voice.
With very interesting remixes and strong b-sides, Zynic once again deliver a very strong release.
